Jabir reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, \u201cThe ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah are the best days created by Allah\u201d A man asked, \u201cAre these days better than an equivalent number of days that are spent fighting for the cause of Allah?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Prophet answered; \u201cThey are better than an equivalent number of days spent fighting in the cause of Allah. And there is no day better than the Day of Arafah. On this day Allah, the Almighty and the Exalted One, send an angel who descends to the nearest heaven, and Allah says to an angel what means (Important note: Allah doesn\u2019t speak like humans, he don\u2019t speak with tongue nor mouth, neither language nor sound, Allah doesn\u2019t resemble his creatures); \u2018Look at My servants. They have come from far and near, with hair dis-heveled and faces covered with dust. They seek My mercy, even though they have not seen My chastisement. Far more people are freed from the Hellfire on the Day of Arafah than on any other day.\u201d Al-Mundhri said that this hadith was reported by Abu Yala, Al-Bazzar, Ibn Khuzaymah, and Ibn Hibban, in whose wording it is given here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ibn Al-Mubarak reported from Sufyan Ath-Thawri, from Az-Zubayr ibn Ali, from Anas ibn Malik that he said: The Prophet spent the day at\u00a0Arafah\u00a0until almost sunset. Then he said,\u00a0\u201cO Bilal, ask the people to be quiet and listen to me.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0 Bilal stood up and asked the people to be quiet and listen to the Prophet. When the people were quiet, the Prophet said,\u00a0\u201cO people, a little while ago Gabriel (peace be upon him) came to me. He gave me salutations from Allah and informed me that Allah has forgiven those who spend the Day at Arafah and those who stop at Al-Mash`ar Al-Haram, and that He has guaranteed their debts.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n At this Umar ibn Al-Khattab stood up and asked, \u201cO Allah\u2019s Messenger, is this for us only?\u201d The Prophet said,\u00a0\u201cThis is for you and for all those who will come after you until the Day of Judgment.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0Umar exclaimed, \u201cHow plentiful and blissful Allah\u2019s bounties are!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Muslim and others have reported from Aishah that the Prophet said,\u00a0\u201cAllah frees far more people from Hellfire on the Day of Arafah than on any other day<\/strong>\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n Abu Ad-Darda reported that the Prophet said,\u00a0\u201cOn no other day does the Satan feel so belittled, humiliated, and angry as he does on the Day of Arafah.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0The reason for this is the mercy of Allah that descends (this day) and the forgiveness that He grants to people for major sins, except the day of the Battle of Badr, which witnessed a far greater mercy of Allah descending upon people, which caused great sadness to Satan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Prophet (peace be upon him) was asked, \u201cO Prophet of Allah, what did Satan see on the day of the Battle of Badr?\u201d\u00a0\u201cHe saw Gabriel leading the troops of angels,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0he replied.
